Distinguished Dining

On Sunday, March 8th, the Honors College Residential Programming Committee (HCRPC) hosted Distinguished Dining. This event, held in the Purdue Memorial Union, gave Honors College students and faculty the opportunity to meet new people during a dinner.

All participants, including both students and faculty, filled out a survey of 10 questions as they came through the. This survey included questions such as “What is your favorite season?” and “What is your favorite dining court to eat at?” Once they were finished with their responses, the students and faculty proceeding to go to the table corresponding with the number printed on their name tag. Once seated, conversations were sparked by comparing survey answers and bonding over similarities. After a while of conversing, dinner was served and everyone got to enjoy pasta, meatballs, tiramisu, and fruit with a new friend or two.
Hyesoo Chae, one of the members of the HCRPC, was full of excitement at the conclusion of the event. She stated the main objective of the evening was to introduce honors students to other honors students and faculty. The council wanted to see participants bond over similarities and realize they have a lot more in common than just being in the Honors College together. When asked what her favorite aspect of the evening was, Hyesoo responded with, “I really enjoyed taking a step back and watching people interact with each other. It was an enriching environment for everyone to get to know each other and realize we are all alike in some way.”
